Rosemarie and Richard St. Michael have been living with a run down air conditioning unit for more than a decade.

“We have been here for twelve years and almost every month the AC is to have repairs and always breaks down. It was always hot in the house – over 105 degrees. Even after the repair, it was 83 degrees,” said Rosemarie St. Michael.

That level of heat is not only uncomfortable, it can be quite dangerous. Rosemarie and her husband, Richard, a veteran, were not getting much sleep. “For so many years we have not slept well due to the heat,” shared Rosemarie. Richard, who has served in the Navy Reserve, the Air Force and the Marine Corps, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

Thanks to the generosity of Erin and Kurt Robert, Owners of AAA Cooling Specialists, the St. Michaels are resting comfortably tonight. AAA Cooling Specialists worked with the Arizona Coalition for Military Families and the Gold Star Mothers to identify the St. Michaels and provide an entire system replacement for them.

With their old unit in a constant state of disrepair, the new system will not only bring comfort to their home, it will help ease the strain on their budget. “We struggled so much with the old AC,” shares Rosemarie. “I have butterflies in my stomach. I am so happy that we have been blessed with the new one.” Her husband Richard agrees. “I feel very excited and I feel very honored,” he said.

Danielle Miller from Fox 10 Phoenix was on the scene to capture the moment when the new unit was hauled away and the new unit was installed.

Looking on were Erin and Kurt Robert to watch their expert technician install the new unit and give the St. Michael’s the ability to feel comforted in their home. “This means a lot to me and I have a special place in my heart for those who have served our country,” said Erin Robert, owner of AAA Cooling Specialists. “It’s great to be able to give back. The employees are so excited to see when we do this and to be involved in giving to people who are in need.”

People who have committed their lives to the military… We just want to give back to that. We’re grateful for that because its our freedom.
