Success Stories from the Be Connected Support Line
The following are real stories of successful outcomes of people in Arizona who have been helped through the Be Connected support line at 866-4AZ-VETS (866-429-8387).
The support line offers no-cost, confidential resource navigation services and support to Arizona service members, veterans, and their families. It is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST and is closed on federal holidays.
Vehicle Repairs for Veteran
The Be Connected support line received a referral from a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs social worker to help a veteran with vehicle repairs. A Be Connected support line team member reached out to the veteran and explained that help was available through the Be Connected Transportation program. A few days after applying, the request was approved, and the veteran was able to take their vehicle to the shop for repairs. The repairs were completed, and the veteran had a safe and reliable vehicle to get to and from important medical appointments and work.
Heat and Hot Water Restored
The Be Connected team became aware of an elderly veteran needing financial assistance for utilities. The veteran explained that their gas and hot water were disconnected the day prior. The veteran expressed concern for their spouse’s discomfort the night prior due to the drop in temperature. Specialists worked with the veteran, providing connections to energy assistance funding. The veteran received immediate assistance and the utilities were turned back on. The veteran followed up with Be Connected, expressing sincere appreciation for the help.
Heat and Hot Water Restored
A veteran had recently moved and was feeling the stresses of that move while caring for their disabled children and trying to maintain mental health. Be Connected was able to assist by alleviating some stress by providing the family with a fuel gift card and grocery order. The veteran also qualified for a wellness coach who is able to provide ongoing support.
