Every two years, the Arizona Coalition for Military Families issues the Arizona Veteran Survey. The last survey, released in 2019, asks veterans, their families and the community to identify the needs that exist across Arizona. Recognizing that our state is vastly diverse in geography, demographics and infrastructure, the survey is a terrific tool for us to identify ways to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who serve in the military and those who love and care for them.
From the last survey, conducted in 2019, it was clear that there was an opportunity to create a virtual gathering place. Based on the need for information, connection to resources and simply knowing what is happening around the state, we created www.ConnectVeterans.org. This custom website provides a virtual home for information so every service member, veteran and their families can connect to the Ecosystem of Support that is out there.
The website explains the Ecosystem of Support and how it’s designed to provide a custom support network for people of all ages – no matter where they happen to be in their life’s journey. The tab labeled Mil/Vet/Fam is the hub for service members, veterans and their families to find information. Check out the Areas of Focus section to learn more about how we organize our support related to the social determinants of health. We also have an active events calendar if you’re looking to get more involved and a section for Career Navigation resources.
We’re actively adding more pages and helpful information to the website every day, so bookmark www.ConnectVeterans.org and check back often. As we head into August, we’re preparing to send out the 2021 version of the Arizona Veteran Survey. I hope that you will take a few minutes to participate. The data that we collect from that survey informs our efforts to provide more programs, services and deliver information. The ConnectVeterans.org website is a perfect example of this commitment.
