In addition to our core Be Connected services (support line, resource matching portal and community navigators), Be Connected offers specialized support through our partners and special programs. Here are a few examples of recent projects:
Be Connected: Door-2-Door – In response to a need identified by the VA for expanded transportation options for rural veterans to access care and other resources, the Be Connected: Door-2-Door program was created to match volunteer drivers to support veterans and families in the community. Launched in 2020, the initial program pivoted from the plan to transport people to focus on delivering essential needs like food, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Door-2-Door will continue to grow and support communities around Arizona.
COVID Community Support Program – COVID-19 impacted every community around Arizona. With support from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, the Be Connected team was able to address essential needs like access to water, firewood for fuel, food, transportation and housing.
Transportation Survey & Support – The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, a Be Connected Leadership Partner, is conducting a survey on veteran transportation barriers and needs. Be Connected is providing support by fielding calls to complete the survey by phone for those without internet access and by providing real-time support to find resources for transportation barriers.
Legal – Be Connected provided support for a virtual legal clinic focused on veterans who are experiencing homelessness and have unresolved legal issues. The support line team fielded calls and connected veterans to the right resource among a variety of legal partners supporting the project.
