The American Legion is a nonpartisan organization of U.S. wartime veterans that was founded in 1919. Its mission is to support and advocate for veterans, promote patriotism and national security, and support youth and community programs. Over the years, the American Legion has been instrumental in advocating for veterans’ benefits and services, including the GI Bill, and has provided support for veterans and their families through a variety of programs and initiatives.
