K-9 Veterans Day
K-9 Veterans Day is observed annually on March 13 to honor the service and sacrifices of military working dogs and their handlers. The day commemorates the first official use of dogs in the U.S. military during World War II. Today, dogs continue to play an essential role in the military, serving in a variety of functions including detection, patrol, and search and rescue. K-9 Veterans Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and show appreciation for the dedication, loyalty, and bravery of these furry heroes who have helped to protect and defend our country. It is also a day to honor the special bond between military working dogs and their handlers, who often develop a deep and unbreakable connection as they work together in dangerous and high-pressure situations.
