Partnering to Provide Local Support

The Be Connected program has partnered with the City of Surprise and other valley agencies to provide the West Valley Veteran Success Center located within the Surprise Resource Center at 12425 W. Bell Road, Suite 124.

Service members, veterans and their family members can walk in during business hours to access resources and support. Call (623) 222-1600 or the Be Connected Support Line at 866-4AZ-VETS (429-8387) for more information.

Services available include a part-time Be Connected navigator and a full-time AmeriCorps member who facilitates access to benefits and services crucial to the well-being of current and former military personnel and their families.

A Veteran Benefits Counselor (VBC) is on site two days per week to assist veterans and their families with filing applications for benefits and claims with Veterans Affairs. The VBC is an employee of the State of Arizona provided by the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and is dually accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the American Legion. The VBC helps applicants in their pursuit of federal and state benefits such as education benefits, VA pension applications, applying for discharge upgrades (to potentially access or increase benefits) and appealing VA decisions. At this time, sessions with the VBC are by appointment only and walk-in clients cannot be served. Appointments can be made through the VBC call center at 602.535.1215.
