Veterans Day
November 11, 2028
Veterans Day is a federal holiday that happens on November 11 each year. Its primary purpose is to honor and express gratitude to all American veterans who have served in the U.S. military, both in wartime and peacetime. The day has its origins in the aftermath of World War I when it was called Armistice Day to commemorate the end of the war on November 11, 1918. In 1954, the holiday was officially renamed Veterans Day to recognize the service of all veterans. Traditionally, parades, ceremonies, and other tributes are held to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of those who have served their country. Veterans Day has significant cultural and historical significance in the U.S., serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the military and the importance of recognizing their service and contributions to the nation.

- NOTE: Veterans Day is different than Memorial Day. Memorial Day is meant to remember and honor military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of a wound sustained in battle. Veterans Day is intended to thank all those who have honorably served in the military – in wartime or peacetime.
