Battle of 73 Easting
February 26, 2027
The Battle of 73 Easting, fought on February 26, 1991, during the Gulf War, was a decisive tank battle between U.S. armored forces, primarily the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, and Iraq’s Republican Guard. Named after a north-south coordinate line used as a phase line by Coalition forces, the engagement resulted in a significant Coalition victory, with U.S. forces destroying numerous Iraqi tanks and armored vehicles, effectively crippling the combat capabilities of the Republican Guard in the area.
