Lives Changed for the Better
Comforting Telephone Calls
A Connection Coach began working with a veteran who faced significant social isolation due to mobility and pain management challenges, making it difficult for them to leave their home. The veteran expressed a desire for regular phone conversations to help alleviate their loneliness. In response, the Connection Coach provided the veteran with a service offering supportive calls. Upon follow-up, the veteran shared that they had reached out twice in the past week and expressed deep gratitude for the ability to connect with someone whenever they felt lonely.
Heat and Hot Water Restored
The Be Connected team became aware of an elderly veteran needing financial assistance for utilities. The veteran explained that their gas and hot water were disconnected the day prior. The veteran expressed concern for their spouse’s discomfort the night prior due to the drop in temperature. Specialists worked with the veteran, providing connections to energy assistance funding. The veteran received immediate assistance and the utilities were turned back on. The veteran followed up with Be Connected, expressing sincere appreciation for the help.
Vehicle Repairs for Veteran
The Be Connected support line received a referral from a social worker to help a veteran with vehicle repairs. A Be Connected support line team member reached out to the veteran and explained that help was available. The veteran was able to take their vehicle to the shop for repairs. The repairs were completed, and the veteran had a safe and reliable vehicle to get to and from important medical appointments and work.
She Landed Her Dream Job
A female service member transitioning from active duty to the civilian workforce collaborated with the Career Navigation team to enhance her resume to target a civilian employer she had always aspired to join. Working in partnership with the team over a few months, the veteran skillfully navigated her career journey. Ultimately, she secured a full-time job offer with her dream company, providing a promising career path post-military service. She expressed deep gratitude for the invaluable support from the Be Connected Career Navigation team, particularly for the resume coaching and interview preparation.
