A Memorable Veterans Day at Pima Community College
On November 7, 2024, the Be Connected Career Navigation Team had the privilege of joining the Veterans Day Celebration Program at Pima Community College’s Aviation Technology Center, a meaningful event that reinforced our dedication to Arizona’s military community. This annual gathering was hosted by Alissa McKaig, Director of Military and Veteran Services, and featured a powerful keynote address by Dr. Jeffrey P. Nasse, Chancellor of Pima Community College. Adding to the day’s significance, Courtney Robinson, President of the Student Veterans of America Chapter, warmly welcomed attendees, setting a tone of reflection and celebration for all.
One of the most moving moments was the Honoring of the Colors, performed by the Tohono O’odham Nation Veteran Color Guard—a powerful tribute that resonated deeply with everyone present. As part of the program, Bernadette Polley from Northwest Tucson Quilts of Valor also presented handcrafted quilts to veterans, a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
At the event’s resource fair, our Career Navigation Team connected with veterans and their families, offering career guidance and sharing information about our services, all aimed at helping veterans build rewarding and meaningful careers. We are honored to play a role in supporting veterans in their career journeys and to be part of this vibrant community that celebrates and uplifts those who have served. This day was a reminder of the strength and camaraderie that binds Arizona’s veteran community, and we are proud to be part of it.
