This is a statewide support line offered at no cost that is answered by an Arizona-based team that specializes in providing resources and support for veterans, people in the military and anyone who supports them. These are real stories that showcase the support that Arizona veterans received by reaching out. How can we help you?

Fresh Food in a New Home

Basic Needs

An Air Force veteran and his wife called the be Connected Support Line at 866-4AZ-VETS (866-429-8387) when they were faced with a daunting move. They were concerned that the move would place a financial burden on their budget, which was already stretched beyond its limits.

The Be Connected navigator who took their call on the Support Line began assisting the couple immediately. The navigator provided documentation to the couple that would help them receive support for their move through a utility assistance program. Through this engagement with the couple, the navigator also found out that the family was facing food insecurity. With a tight budget, the couple couldn’t always afford the necessary food for a healthy diet. The navigator was able to connect the family with St. Mary’s Food Bank and food was quickly delivered to their new home. Food delivery is now made to the family on a weekly basis. With the help of the Be Connected navigator, the couple was able to move into a more appropriate living space and ease the burden on their fixed income with the help of supplemental food deliveries. If you or someone you know can benefit from the services of our caring, dedicated navigators, give us a call at 866-4AZ-VETS (866-429-8387).

Flying into Career Advancement

Our Career Navigation team not only helps veterans and their family members find employment, they work with them to provide training, skills and education to advance their careers. Meet Sierra*,  a career seeker in the Phoenix area who is the daughter of a veteran. Sierra heard about the Career Navigation program through her father, so she called the Support Line at 866-4AZ-VETS (866-429-8387) in March 2020 to see if she could get help finding employment. Sierra was working with a career counselor on  interview preparation and resume building with the goal of pursuing a career in customer service. Although her background was not in customer service, she was able to demonstrate through her resume and interview that she had transferable skills – thanks to the career counseling sessions. As a result, she was able to secure a position at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in her desired field.

Despite landing that new job, she did not stop working with the Career Navigation team. Sierra wanted to advance her new career even further, so she continued to work with our team. She  was offered multiple positions, ultimately advancing her career, by accepting a full-time role with Norwegian Airlines. Sierra’s new position also includes benefits and the ability to work from home, further elevating her income by eliminating commuting and airport parking costs. If you, or someone you know could benefit from our no cost Career Navigation support, call 866-4AZ-VETS (866-429-8387) or visit ConnectVeterans.org/CareerNav.
