The Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, marked the end of the Vietnam War and led to the reunification of Vietnam under communist control. North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, prompting a mass evacuation of American personnel and at-risk Vietnamese. This event resulted in significant political and social changes, including the renaming of Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City.
