DESCRIPTION:Spirit in the Desert is offering an in-person Healing of Memories Workshop for Women Veterans on June 10-12\, 2022 at Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center\, 7415 E. Elbow Bend Rd\, Carefree\, AZ\, 85377. The event is FREE for women veterans and registration is required. \nThe Healing of Memories workshop is a safe place for participants to explore personal histories and gain insight and empathy for themselves and others. \nThis Institute for Healing of Memories retreat is a response to the emotional\, psychological\, and spiritual wounds inflicted by war\, human rights abuses\, and other life-changing traumatic circumstances. The workshop is life-changing! Here\, participants learn ways to overcome anger\, loss\, grief\, and guilt. DESCRIPTION:June 14 is Flag Day. \nThe official American flag was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14\, 1777 which was necessary as a result of the Declaration of Independence so the newly formed nation could unite under one flag. \nFun Facts About Our Flag \n\nTo display the flag 24 hours a day\, it must be properly illuminated. Take the flag down in inclement weather.\nThe colors of the flag represent the characters of our nation and her people. Red symbolizes hardiness and valor\, white symbolizes purity and innocence and blue represents vigilance\, perseverance and justice.\nA teenager designed our current flag. Robert G. Heft\, of Lancaster\, Ohio was 17 when he submitted the design in a contest in 1958. It was chosen by President Dwight Eisenhower.\nThere is a body of federal law called the U.S. Flag Code that outlines the etiquette related to displaying\, honoring and disposing of the American flag. Respectful burning of damaged flags according to established protocol is acceptable.

Conrad wanted to honor a North Dakota National Guard member who had committed suicide after two tours of duty in Iraq.
