Take the flag down in inclement weather.\nThe colors of the flag represent the characters of our nation and her people. Red symbolizes hardiness and valor\, white symbolizes purity and innocence and blue represents vigilance\, perseverance and justice.\nA teenager designed our current flag. Robert G. Heft\, of Lancaster\, Ohio was 17 when he submitted the design in a contest in 1958. It was chosen by President Dwight Eisenhower.\nThere is a body of federal law called the U.S. Flag Code that outlines the etiquette related to displaying\, honoring and disposing of the American flag. Respectful burning of damaged flags according to established protocol is acceptable.
