DESCRIPTION:The Korean War (1950–1953) was a significant conflict between North Korea\, supported by China and the Soviet Union\, and South Korea\, backed by United Nations forces led by the United States. The war began on June 25\, 1950\, when North Korean forces invaded South Korea\, crossing the 38th parallel. In response\, UN forces launched a counteroffensive\, including the notable Inchon Landing\, pushing into North Korea. However\, Chinese intervention in late 1950 resulted in a stalemate near the original border. After prolonged negotiations\, an armistice was signed on July 27\, 1953\, establishing the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) but leaving the peninsula divided\, as no formal peace treaty was concluded.
