SUMMARY:Veterans Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:Veterans Day began back in 1919 under President Woodrow Wilson. Veterans Day was originally named Armistice Day and was designated November 11 because of the significance of the end of World War I when the fighting stopped at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the month in 1918. \nIn 1954\, Congress officially changed the name of the federal holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day as a way to recognize veterans who fought in all wars. Today we observe Veterans Day across America in a variety of ways. Many communities host parades in honor of veterans. Moments of silence\, artwork\, and even discounts are some additional ways that Americans pay tribute to all who have served in the nation’s military. \nSince both observances honor the nation’s military members\, some people confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. Veterans Day is our opportunity to thank all service members and veterans for their service in the United States military\, whether in peacetime\, during conflicts\, or wartime. \nMemorial Day is a day set aside to recognize and remember the members of the United States military who lost their lives in service to our country\, with a special emphasis on those who died in battle or as a result of injuries from a battle. \nThe Arizona Coalition for Military Families and the Be Connected team\, many of whom are veterans themselves and members of military families\, wish to extend our sincere appreciation for all who are serving\, all who have served\, and everyone in their families who make their decision to serve in the military possible by making sacrifices so we\, as Americans\, can benefit from their selfless service.
